How the HeartCode BLS Course Works
We’ve streamlined the American Heart Association HeartCode BLS experience into three simple steps:
Step 1: Enroll & receive your HeartCode BLS access
After you register, you’ll receive instructions to purchase the official AHA HeartCode BLS online course. Purchase the HeartCode® BLS Online course separately for $37. Work through the interactive modules at your own pace, pause, rewind, and review as needed. You must submit proof of online completion before scheduling the required in-person hands-on skills session. The $99 fee covers Blessed Beginnings administrative processing, scheduling, the in-person skills session, and issuance of the 2-year AHA BLS Provider eCard upon successful completion.
Step 2: Schedule your hands-on skills check-off
Once you complete the online portion and we verify your proof of completion, choose a convenient date and time for your in-person skills session. You’ll practice adult, child, and infant BLS with manikins and an AHA instructor dedicated to helping you feel confident, not rushed.
Step 3: Demonstrate skills & receive your AHA BLS Provider eCard
During your skills check, you’ll demonstrate high-quality CPR, ventilation techniques, AED use, and team dynamics. After successful completion, you’ll receive your American Heart Association BLS Provider eCard, typically within 24 hours.

Is this the official American Heart Association HeartCode BLS Course?
Yes. This course uses the official American Heart Association HeartCode BLS online program followed by an AHA-compliant, in-person skills check with an AHA instructor. Upon successful completion, you will receive an AHA BLS Provider eCard that is valid for 2 years.
How long does the online HeartCode BLS portion take?
Most providers complete the online HeartCode BLS modules in 2–4 hours, depending on experience and how often you pause or review sections. You can log in and out as needed and your progress will be saved.
How long is the in-person skills check-off?
The hands-on skills session typically takes about 15 minutes. Each session is scheduled one-on-one, so you receive focused instruction and feedback without spending your day waiting.
What do I need to bring to the skills session?
Please bring a photo ID and your AHA HeartCode BLS online completion certificate or completion email (printed or on your phone). Wear comfortable clothing you can move in, as you’ll be practicing chest compressions and positioning on the manikins.
When will I receive my BLS Provider eCard?
In most cases, you’ll receive your American Heart Association BLS Provider eCard by email within 1 week of successfully completing your skills check. You can save, print, and share it with your employer or school as needed.
